Early Access

Download LootEngine.

Free for Windows and Linux. Install it once and it keeps itself up to date.

That download isn't available right now. Please try again in a few minutes.

Getting started

Install it in a minute.

Windows

  1. Run the installer. It installs LootEngine for your Windows account, so you don't need to be an administrator.
  2. If Windows SmartScreen says it protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway. The installer is code-signed, but a new release can take a while to build up a reputation with SmartScreen.
  3. Open LootEngine from the Start menu.

Linux

  1. Make the AppImage executable, then run it. In most file managers that's Properties → Allow executing as a program, or in a terminal:
    chmod +x LootEngine_*.AppImage
    ./LootEngine_*.AppImage
  2. AppImages need FUSE 2. If it won't start on Ubuntu 22.04 or later, install libfuse2 (libfuse2t64 on 24.04 and later) and try again.

Then, in LootEngine

  • Find DayZ

LootEngine looks for your DayZ installation, since it reads item data from your game files. If it can't find it, it asks where it is.

  • Open your mission

Pick the mission folder whose loot you want to edit. LootEngine reads its types.xml and limits files, and any extra types files it lists.

  • Stay up to date

LootEngine checks for a new version when it starts and installs it when you say so, so you get Early Access fixes as they ship.

It's Early Access.

Expect rough edges. Every save keeps a timestamped backup in .loot-editor-backups, and LootEngine won't overwrite a file that changed since you opened it. Tell us what breaks, and what you'd like next, on Discord.

What you need

  • A 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC, or a 64-bit Linux one
  • DayZ installed, since LootEngine reads item data from your game files
  • The mission folder you want to edit, from your server or a local copy
  • Nothing else: it works offline and doesn't need the game or a server running
